Sarah Palin Resigns? ::

WTF is up with that? I'm waiting for more breaking news. Surely she cannot see herself with future national political aspirations given her train wreck run as McCain's VP running mate!

[update] Looks like there may be a federal indictment in her future! From this morning's Raw Story:

BradBlog is now reporting additional information received from Alaskans who follow Palin: “I’ve now been able to get independent information from multiple sources that all of this precedes what are said to be possible federal indictments against Palin, concerning an embezzlement scandal related to the building of Palin’s house and the Wasilla Sports Complex built during her tenure as Mayor. Both structures, it is said, feature the ’same windows, same wood, same products.’ Federal investigators have been looking into this for some time, and indictments could be imminent, according to the Alaska sources.”

Home construction fraud seems to be an ongoing problem in Alaska given former senator Ted Steven's problems!

One String Willie Show For Free In York, Penn! ::

A message to all members of Cigar Box Nation

Hi all, it's Shane. Tonight is First Friday in downtown York and we're hosting a free concert at the art gallery with Philadelphia musician, One String Willie. Come on out...it starts at 7. THIS SHOW IS APPROPRIATE FOR YOU TO BRING THE KIDS, TOO. Here's the full details:

CigarBoxNation.com presents an evening of deep blues featuring the one-string virtuoso, David “One String Willie” Williams. The intimate show within the art gallery is this Friday at 7pm and is free and open to the public. Expect old Delta blues songs, skid row lullabies and even Southern Gospel...all played on a one-string diddley bow (the oldest known slide guitar in blues history).

Tonight at 7pm - YorkArts art gallery 10 N. Mail St., York PA (just down the block from the White Rose Bar and Grill)

About “One String Willie”: Several years ago, David Williams built a cigar box guitar for around twenty bucks and was amazed at just how much fun he could have with it. His fun multiplied when York musician, Shane Speal led him to recordings by an obscure blues legend, Eddie “One String” Jones who played deep blues on a “diddley bow,” a primitive single string slide instrument. That’s when Williams’ alter ego One String Willie came into being. The first public performance by One String Willie is documented in the PBS film, Songs Inside The Box.

“One String Willie is probably the greatest blues diddley bow performer in the world,” claims Speal. “I’ve seen him play complex blues, folk and classical arrangements on an instrument that’s just a broomwire string, 2x4 plank and a couple nails. It’s something you have to see for yourself.”

Tonight at 7pm - YorkArts art gallery
YorkArts Art Gallery is located at 10 N. Beaver St., York PA 17401. It's located just across from Central Market. Call YorkArts for more info at 717-848-3200. http://www.yorkarts.org

One String Willie does a great show on primitive home-built instruments. I saw him here in Huntsville last month at The Guitar Box Guitar Extravaganza and really enjoyed the show. Make it if you can!

Karl Malden died in his sleep at his Los Angeles home, his manager says.

Malden died in his sleep about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, said his manager, Bud Ross.

Malden appeared alongside Marlon Brando in two of director Elia Kazan's classic films of the 1950s -- "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "On the Waterfront." He won the best supporting actor Oscar for "Streetcar," which was released in 1951, in 1952 and was nominated for his role as a priest crusading against crooked union bosses in "On the Waterfront."

Ross said he did not know the cause of death.

"It could be a combination of things," Ross said. "He was 97 years old."

We lose another great one!

Mark Sanford ::

Does he not understand the power of humiliation? From today's State:

“I signed a letter today asking him to step down,” said Sen. Larry Martin, R-Pickens, chairman of the Senate Rules committee. •

Martin’s reaction came after Sanford told The Associated Press he had more romantic meetings with his Argentinian lover, Maria Belen Chapur, than he previously admitted, including two trysts in New York.

Sanford told the news agency he also had “crossed the line” with other women.

As a native South Carolinian who had the good sense to move away almost 40 years ago I can't help but laugh at the hypocrisy!
