Walter Cronkite ::

News sources reported shortly after 8 pm on Friday that legendary television anchorman Walter Cronkite had died at the age of 92.

CBS correspondent emeritus Mike Wallace issued a statement saying. simply, “We were proud to work with him — for him — we loved him.”

“It is impossible to imagine CBS News, journalism or indeed America without Walter Cronkite,” Sean McManus, the president of CBS News, stated. “More than just the best and most trusted anchor in history, he guided America through our crises, tragedies and also our victories and greatest moments.”

There should be hundreds and thousands of journalists this evening rethinking how they honor, or dishonor, their craft!

The Sotomayor Confirmation Hearings ::

I'm looking forward to this, but I must say that the first day was a total waste. Why not have opening statements from the senators limited to, say, 1 minute, at most? Actually I don't see why anyone should be subjected to more than 30 seconds from each. Let the nominee make a 10 minute statement and then let's get on with it!

Jeff Sessions, unfortunately my senator, continues to be an embarrassment to not only the state of Alabama, but also to all americans and attorneys in general, as apposed to attorneys general! Let's not even mention the pile of crap that is Lindsey Graham from South Carolina, my home state. One saving grace is that South Carolina's other senator, Jim Demint, is not on the judiciary committee. That would be a double dose of South Carolina ignorance!

Having been born and raised in South Carolina I'm not surprised at the racist elected officials, but the state does offer wonderful she-crab soup down in the low country!
