I like the contrast between VP Biden's and Pres. Obama's ties!
I like that Obama savored the applause, but cut it off much earlier than previous presidents have done.
'Bout time much of the blame for the current economic problems are squarely placed on the Bush administration!
Joe Biden has a great smile!
And Obama has a great sense of humor and chides the repubs about his tax cuts at the same time!
I guess the republicans don't like supporting small community banks!
An energy bill trap for the republicans?
Increasing exports? I hope that is something other than military hardware!
All right--laying the blame for the deficit just where it belongs-on the Bushies! Lay it on thicker and thicker!
No one seems to like to applaud restricting lobbyists!
I do have to love the way that Obama chides the repubs with humor, and the repubs just don't seem to get it!
Combat troops out of Iraq by August? Several years too late and too many dead too late!
A committment to repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell--about time he stepped up to the plate on this!
Talking heads are talking and the Rethug response is now under way.
I've been watching the mess that has been made of the health care overhaul legislation with dismay and now comes the news that President Obama is going to pander even more to the blue dogs on the right side of the party by freezing domestic spending. The blame for the inherited deficit should have been placed from day one on the doorstep of the Bush administration which inherited a budget surplus which it promptly squandered in the name of graft, military adventurism, and needless war. That is not to mention the 10s of thousands dead!
If significant budgetary cuts need to be made then I would suggest that the more ripe area would be defense spending which, along with war spending, totals somewhere around $750 billion/year. And end this charade of "war on terror" by ceasing nation building in Afghanistan and Iraq. Seven or eight years ago we could have made a difference in Afghanistan, but Bush squandered that opportunity in his blood-lust for Iraq so let's just end the adventure in misguided nation building!
My dismay grows at the lack of progress on health care reform and I don't see how a spending freeze is going to help Americans improve the health care system.
