A Letter To Artur Davis ::

I called congressman Artur Davis of Alabama's 7th district a couple of days ago to express my feelings about his "no" position on the upcoming vote on health care reform. This morning I decided to send an e-mail to his congressional address but since I live in the Alabama 5th congressional district the e-mail was not accepted. My feeling is that since Davis is running for statewide office, governor, then my views on his position on health care reform are indeed valid and worthy of his consideration. Here is the e-mail I tried to send:

We are on the verge of a vote on what will be long hailed as a monumentally significant piece of legislation, health care reform, and you appear to remain on the wrong side of this issue. The American people deserve the protections this reform engenders and sets as a foundation for later changes.

I called your Birmingham office a couple of days ago and was emphatically told that you would vote "no" on the health care reform legislation. I stated, just as emphatically, that I could never support or vote for you in your quest for the governorship of Alabama and that I would, indeed, actively campaign against you.

I urge you to to reconsider your position on health care reform at this 11th hour and vote yes for your constituents!

I seldom try to contact a representative who does not directly represent me, but I have been successful in the past in making my feelings known via e-mail, most notably in South Carolina where I do have some property considerations.

Anyway, I have my popcorn ready to go and I'm looking forward to this weekend's fireworks!
